Sydney Buses took over the North & Western operation in 2000 and inherited some non-standard vehicles like this Custom bodied Mercedes, which acquired STA fleet number 3533. The North & Western red band has been repainted yellow, which has "qualified" it to provide the service on the hourly Parramatta Explorer. Parramatta is a suburb of Sydney and is the oldest settlement in Australia, after Sydney itself. |

At the end of 2003, ex North & Western Mercedes/Custom 3530 had gained full Sydney Buses livery, but rather "after thought" stickers for the Explorer service. It is seen at the bus stop by the Rivercat terminal, which is the end of the line for the ferry service from Circular Quay. |

Actually fully painted in livery for Explorer service 444 is one of the thirty short MAN 11-220 HOCL-N of 1997 with Ansair Orana bodywork, 3690 (MO3690). In 2008 the local council reintroduced a similar service to the erstwhile Parramatta Explorer, a free downtown service dubbed "The Loop" and operated by Veolia.
