Having expanded Hants & Dorset by swallowing Wilts & Dorset, the National Bus Company reversed the process in the run up to privatisation, but Wilts & Dorset retained most of the operations in the latter county leaving the old Hants & Dorset renamed simply Hampshire Bus. The new company did receive a small number of NBC liveried ECW bodied Olympians, but this is not one of them. Olympian 3835 (A686MWX) was new to York-West Yorkshire, passing via Yorkshire Rider to First York. It was displayed at the 2015 Alton Rally, alongside Royal Blue RELH6G 2380 (OTA640G), by Hampshire operator, Morton's who had presented the bus as a Hampshire Bus lookalike.

Hampshire Bus 3315 (JOU160P) is seen alongside ex Bristol Omnibus VR of identical 1974 vintage, HTU154N, in the similar colours of Emblings. Both are at Millennium Showbus.

The previous year at Duxford, 3315 is in the company of a VR in service with the London Borough of Redbridge.

The relatively short lived identity of Hampshire Bus is illustrated in this view at Basingstoke Bus depot. VRTSL3 3441 (KRU841W) is still in NBC poppy red, whilst 3393 (VPR492S) is in the new livery. However the Leyland National has already adopted Stagecoach stripes as the company disappeared into the white, red, blue and orange identity of Stagecoach Hampshire Bus. |
