The Alexander Dennis Enviro400 is a confusing description of a bus as it is the name for the complete vehicle built by Alexander Dennis, but also the for the body when built on other chassis. Some Volvo deckers have received the body and several Scania N230UDs, particularly for Stageocach subsidiaries have been similarly bodied. Whereas the pure ADL model uses the addition of AdBlue to meet current European pollution levels, the Scania uses post combustion filters. For operators the Scanias need no new depot procedures or installations so it is unusual to find both types in the same Stagecoach fleet, but you certainly do in Devon. From the front there is little to distinguish the models apart from the different numbering series, however the rears are quite different and only really noticeable when you have them side by side to compare as with Scania 15668 (WA10GHK) and pure Enviro400 19324 (WA08NPC) seen in Exeter Bus Station on Tuesday afternoon this week. |
