With electric buses teaming into service in London this picture at the Halliwick Park northern terminus of the 43 shows Metroline's Alexander Dennis Enviro400EV bodied BYD DD BDE2619 (LJ19CUH) waiting to depart for London Bridge. The 400EV body is based on ADL's City design which was developed to rival the Borismaster, Wrights too developed a version of its Borismaster for Volvo chassis, however Sadiq Khan, the then new Mayor of London banned all such designs from the capital, but appears to have relented by allowing the 400EV. Not visible in this photo, but that bus has lost the diagonal glass staircase feature on the offside, partly to allow bigger space for advertising and its probably cheaper to build. The body retains the mouldings for the feature staircase. Check our Twitter feed @theshowbus to see Optare's electric deckers have commenced delivery too.
