In April 2012 Megabus branched out into Europe starting with a triangle of services linking Amsterdam, Paris and London. A small fleet of Plaxton Panther bodied Volvo B9Rs was acquired with lettering in French and Dutch - and a price reduction to 1 euro! The route also serves Gent, Lille and Brussels. In 2013 a new route to Cologne was added via Gent and Brussels. Here is Megabus Europe Volvo 53636 (KX61GDU), arriving at Duxford for SHOWBUS 2012.

Volvo 53636 with its Dutch lettering was on display next to new TX17 Astromega 50245 at SHOWBUS.

Seen together at the English Channel Tunnel Terminal are two of the Volvos, Paris bound 53645 (KX61GFE) and Amsterdam bound 53643 (KX61GEY). They left London's Victoria Coach Station together and should have been on the same train departure, but the Amsterdam coach was slightly delayed due to a paperwork mixup.

Long distance low cost coach operation is fraught with problems which can frustrate passengers whose expectations exceed the depth of their pockets. The only Megabus "facility" in Brussels was this slightly mangled bus stop, so when 53641 (KX61GEK) was delayed by forty minutes or so due to demonstrations in the city there was no one on hand to reassure them, though in the circumstances there would have been little more they could have done.
