Go Transit Alexander Dennis Enviro500 8165
As promised this week's picture is an Enviro500. This is 8165 in the Go Transit Toronto fleet. The bus is seen on Saturday morning at Burlington Station on the Lakeshore line to Hamilton. It is there to meet the train from downtown Toronto and offer a through service to Niagara Falls. The fleet of Enviro500s has increased in strength since our on-line images were taken in 2009. The new buses are lower in height and have the revised front end akin to the UK Enviro400 design and some, like 8165, have a new livery with a less jaded green and added lime. They do not reach downtown Toronto - with height restrictions in the vicinity of the Union Station terminal - but are used on long distance routes, like Burlington-Niagara, where they very much hold their own amidst other freeway traffic. Enviro500 pictures were promised, but were nearly displaced by new Enviro400 open toppers recently introduced by City Sightseeing Toronto.
We have thousands of pictures to choose from for our Picture of the Week but you are welcome to send in your own. If we do not feature it here, it may appear later in our picture gallery.
Ideally pictures should be 732 pixels wide and no more than 100kB.
