Several pictures make up this week's offering following at tram derailment at St Kilda Junction during the evening rush hour on Wednesday. The derailment appeared to be caused by a car hitting the front of Combino tram 3522 as it crossed the junction. Melbourne motorists are quite good at running red lights and doubtless this was the cause. The tram was hit on the front nearside corner and travelled some distance derailed as score marks on the concrete show. A Z class heading out of the city was held up just after the diversion route taken by following trams along Dandenong Road. Three trams heading into the city along Brighton Road were parked up and one on the 16 up Fitzroy Street. Yarra Trams officials had the good sense to turn the 16 back to Kew after things were sorted to fill the service gap as quickly as possible from St Kilda west. Panels around the bogies were lifted for engineers to assist in getting 3522 back on track. The International tow truck pulled 3522 from the opposite end as the front bogie was guided back on to the rails. A plain replacement nearside panel was on 3522 and it was back in service the following day with little detraction to the Finlandia advert.
