Dee Decker ex Crosville Bristol LD Lodekka
Former Crosville Bristol Lodekka LD6G DLG879 was pictured from the rear at Federation Square for the Flemington Cup shuttle service in 2011. The bus gave a spirited ride to the race course. Dee Decker's stalwart was out last week in Altona for Heritage Week, giving tours of the area. Sadly it arrived at the Altona Homestead leaking oil. Undaunted the driver soldiered on, but did send for a relief bus for later tours. Sadly, only a short way down the road on its tour, the bus hit a raised hump in the road - having positioned itself to avoid low hanging trees - and cracked the transmission housing. The hump, immediately before a pedestrian crossing, is seen in the inset. As seen the bus sat bleeding in the road until five passengers pushed it to the side. Slicks of red transmission fluid seeped behind the continuing black oil leak and were treated with cat litter from nearby Coles supermarket by the driver, who is seen walking alongside. Hopefully the faithful Lodekka will be repaired and be rolling again soon. Incidentally the lower deck has an interesting collection of faded interior posters for the London Tube and one for London Country, depicting an AN and RP.
