Thanks to Matthew Buytaert for this great picture of former Sydney Buses Commonwealth Engineering bodied Leyland Titan OPD2 2816 built in 1947. The bus was part of an order for 203 Leylands delivered alongside Albions and AEC buses. Intended for tram replacement the bus languished for some years at Kingsgrove depot as batches of buses were needed to replace an entire tram line in one fell swoop. Eventually it was sent to do proper bus work in Newcastle, returning to Sydney after twenty years in 1969. In late 1971 it was sold to R Hawkins of Gunnedah who kept it at work primarily on school work until 1990 registered MO035. It was acquired for preservation from Hakins and is an active member of the Sydney Bus Museum fleet, as seen by Matt on Saturday.
