Built in Philadelphia USA by Brill in 1925, this car first served Adelaide as their number 301. In 1936 it passed to Geelong Tramways in 1936 where it lost the number one from its fleet number. Retaining fleet number 30 it moved on to Bendigo in 1947 where it was placed in storage in the paint shop and used for spare parts for similar trams. It ventually went into service in the city when identical tram 27 suffered accident damage, and with some bits from 27, 30 took to the tracks at last. It was one of four trams to inaugurate the "Talking Tram" service in the city in September 1972. Picture ref A1295 |

World War One delayed the delivery of the Duncan & Fraser tram to Hawthorn Tramways in Melbourne. It soon moved on to Footscray Tramways in 1919, but did not operate for them due to a lack of power supply. Ultimately it joined the M&MTB as California combination M class 185. It arrived with Bendigo Tramways in 1935 and was converted to one-man configuration as car 19. The tram is now part of the "Talking Tram" fleet.

Another view of car 30 on a visit to the Museum in August 2002. From 1972 car 30 was the darling of the fleet and hosted many distinguished guests including Prince Charles and the Prime Minister. |

Another from the "Talking Tram" fleet, this 1917 Duncan & Fisher tram joined Hawthorn Tramways Trust as their 27. It went directly into the M&MTB as their 133. It too joined Bendigo Tramways in 1947 as their car 25.
