In 2013 reinforcements arrived! The tour was recast and became part of the new Explorer franchise, already in use in Sydney and the Blue Mountains. New Anhui Ankai buses in Sydney released two Super Metrobuses, repainted in the new Explorer red and navy colours and branded for Darwin to head north. Seen back in the centre of Sydney over the 2003/2004 Christmas/New Year period with the impressive Queen Victoria Building behind is 425 (TV3594), one of the buses to head north. The bus was new to CMB as ML21, passing to NWFB and initially registered MO201 in the ACT for Canberra City Sightseeing. |
The second Metrobus heading to Darwin from Sydney was 405 (TV3410) is seen in "The Rocks" in Sydney just before Christmas in 2003. The bus was originally ML12 with China Motor Bus and New World First Bus in Hong Kong. It spent all its time in Sydney once in Australia until the trek north to Darwin. At some point City Sightseeing renumbered and reregistered it as 420 (TV3935) |
