This Hino Rainbow RB145K, 408, is seen at Moonee Ponds in 2008 not long after acquisition with the business of Northern Bus Lines in July, where it was 41 (0980AO). Before that it was 100 (0100AC) with Australian Coach Travel of Highett in Victoria and 57 (DPH919) with Australian Pacific Tours (APT). It was being used for driver changeover runs, here serving Mercedes/Volgren bus 422 (0971AO), also ex Northern (26). The nineteen seater has since been disposed of and a fleet of saloon cars is used for driver transfers.

Dysons BCI Proma 33 896
Over a year after buying 870, two more Promas were bought for what used to be the Hope Street Bus Line service. The one bus operation, Melbourne's shortest bus route, shuttled along Hope Street in Brunswick, paralleling existing services on adjacent streets, which actually went somewhere useful. The state government had subsidised the service for years, it carried very few passengers and still diverted past a school at closing time after the institution had been closed for many years! Eventually the state cut the route, but because its few passengers were pensioners and the Hope Street Bus Company almost a sacred cow in Brunswick, the passing of the route - and the company - became a cause celebre and the Labor Party saw a few votes in reinstating the route in early 2016. Whereas Hope Street's last bus had been a ten year old step entrance MAN, with a Volvo B6 as backup, a new contract was let to Dysons with brand new low floor buses. The route ceased to divert via the closed school and was extended to a proper destination, Barkly Square Shopping Centre. However the frequency was slashed, but when the buses were not in service the bus - and its driver - just sit doing nothing for nearly 45 minutes in each hour. The service does not start till around 0900h but no use - at least initially - was made of the vehicle during the peak periods, altogether a prolific waste of public money, which PTV are exceptionally good at. Indeed 896 (BS01WC) - an unfortunate rego! - is seen mid afternoon parked up by Princes Park on Royal Parade in March 2016 its work for the day complete.
