In early 2016 Skybus took over FAPAS, the Frankston and Peninsula Airport Service the first stage of its expansion in Melbourne, spreading to Queensland, Tasmania, Auckland and beyond.
|
Seen in April 2004 26 (5043AO) was typical of the initial fleet of FAPAS (Frankston And Peninsula Airport Service) based in Frankston. Probably because of the long name FAPAS traded as Airport Bus and used that as their web address and one of their biggest markets was some way from both Frankston and the Peninsula and a lot closer to the city, namely St Kilda to the extent that this was the boot strap line on their website after "Airport Bus". The Toyota Coaster is actually in St Kilda in its famous Acland Street when Z class trams still plied the front line 96 route. |
Newly delivered in December 2013 and seen only days later is King Long 6900AU 50 (BS00AU). The coach offers fifteen more seats than a Coaster and its use was a measure of the success of the service, and to the extent that it had been pressed into service before fleet livery had been applied. Towing the obligatory luggage trailer, though the locker capacity of the King Long is much better than the Coasters, it is probably not up to the luggage of 35 travellers from Melbourne's Tullamarine Airport. It is seen at St Kilda Triangle. |
In full fleet livery is 48 (9473AO) delivered in June 2013 and seen in November the following year at Tullamarine Airport.
