Stashed in the corner of the depot yard was 40 (SW400), a 1947 Weber bodied International chassis with a rear engine layout, most unusual in 1940s Australia. Weber was responsible for the rear engine and they used to make some of their own chassis also. The bus was commonly referred to as the "pusher" because of its rear engine. Unfortunately since the Dineen takeover it has been left in the open and neglected. Local preservationists are keen to see it rescued before it is beyond salvation, but it is due to go under cover when McKenzie's new depot is ready. Thanks to Gary Driver of Driver Bus Lines for information on the vehicle. |
