The first glimpse of the fleet of 38 Gemilang "eco" bodied MAN ND323F A95 doubledeckers in early November 2017 at Brookvale depot, 2862 (2862ST). The fleet, initially at least, did not operate from Brookvale depot, but Mona Vale. The yellow livery and prominent B-Line branding heralded the new B1 service from Mona Vale to Wynyard Station in the city. Only eight stops were served between terminals, most of which had been revamped for the start of service on November 26th. Extension to Newport was due in 2018 and a C1 service between Mona Vale and Chatswood. The B1 is largely imposed on the existing network, though there were a number of accompanying changes across the entire Sydney bus system. The route is billed as a BRT, but there was little in the way of additional bus priorities when it started. Several Park & Ride sites are being linked to the service, but none were finished for November 26th. Like the Volgren bodied Volvo B9TL originally intended for Hillsbus the Gemilang MAN buses had problems meetimg state axle weight limits and the specification changed with one of the two air conditioning units removed and double glazing replaced with single. Hopefully it never gets hot on the Northern Beaches!

It was good of Brookvale to have parked the bus where it could be seen as a taste of things to come.
