Quite when the Metrobus branding was dumped is unclear. A bit like SmartBus in Melbourne, it has been a slow death. Some fleetnames have been removed, the buses find themselves in other routes with newer vehicles in state liveries taking on the original high profile routes, but the old colours linger on. Transdev operated a few Metrobus routes which did not head to Sydney CBD so it was unusual to see one of their Metrobus fleet in the CBD on the inevitable Christmas/New Year rail replacement services in January 2016 which was the beginning of the coming of the end for Metrobus. The Bustech VST bodied Mercedes O500LE was new in 2010 as 336 (MO5076) in Metrobus red and was an unusual type on Metrobus work as Sydney Buses used Custom or Volgren red buses.
