Z3 car 202 approaches the city as another leaves with the Melbourne Arts Centre in the background. The leaving tram appears to be in the white version of this livery, adopted when M>Tram operations merged with those of Yarra Trams. |

Probably the best spot to take a picture of a Melbourne tram, the route 1 terminus at South Melbourne Beach with Port Phillip Bay behind and the period shelter alongside in municipal green, not to mention what certainly looks like a gas lamp - and the palm trees! The driver of Z3 car 156 must be enjoying a pleasant few minutes break before heading back to the city in April 2007. |

An altogether different setting for car 151 in April 2007. It is seen on the 79 at the south end of Chapel Street bound for North Richmond. The 79 is an interesting short route shuttling along Chapel Street and its continuation into Church Street without going anywhere near the downtown area. The tram is passing the Dick Whittington Hotel's off licence, dubbed "Dick Liquor". It is a matter for debate as to whether the name was tongue in cheek or not, but this is Australia! Sadly Dick Liquor has been rebranded as a Bottle-O. |
