Seen in July 2009, only four months after its opening is GO Transit's bus facility at Streetsville. The depot is a state of the art facility with many environmentally friendly features: a 100% highly reflective white roof that has the effect of reduced heat, as well as a reducing air conditioning loads; a low-irrigation green roof over the administration areas; subsequently filtered rainwater can be used for irrigation of exterior landscaping; finishes with reduced levels of volatile organic compounds and an on-site co-generation facility to produce electricity and use waste energy to heat the place. Above all else it is designed so that the fleet of Alexander Dennis Enviro500 doubledeckers have no problem entering the building or being raised on lifts inside.
