Being the launch customer for the Enviro200XLB extended singledecker clearly inspired Ritchies to trust Alexander Dennis with an order for the established doubledeck Enviro500 like RT1366 (LRG483) delivered in 2018. The bus was one of 23 delivered that year, with a further five with glass roofs for the Explorer hop on hop off tours. Whereas the 200XLB buses were completely built in the UK, the Enviro500 chassis are assembled in Malaysia and the bodies in China.

 With the takeover of Birkenhead Transport in early 1989 the fleet gained more Enviro500 models like RT1384 (KQW813), former Birkenhead 85. It stands out from Ritchies own fleet by lacking the Northrn Express yellow and red trim to the AT Metro livery. Ritchies also gained more Enviro200XLB as Birkenhead was the second operator of the type with a batch of twenty four.
