Car Number 1 in 1984 not long after the system had been reopened after its 3 year restoration. At the Hyde terminus with the San Francisco Bay in the background, what better spot to turn the Number 1 Cable Car back to Powell and Market?

Car Number 2 in 2002 performs the same trick in the early evening.

Car Number 2 another six years on and dealing with a bit of an incident. It is early morning in San Francisco in August 2008 and the cable between Powell & Market and the cable car sheds has broken. The bus behind is performing a link service with the helpful destination "Naval Dockyards" - it also departed a block away from Powell & Market with no obvious sign of its purpose - and car 2 was awaiting any passengers who might have discovered the bus to continue their journey on the section of cable that was working.

A little later on and the cable is still not repaired. The driver has to change the points for car 9 as the cars do unconventional turning loops at the Cable Car Sheds.

Car 26 leaves the northern terminus at the seafront for Powell and Market with cars alongside stacked waiting their turn to load and depart.
