In addition to the 320 and 758 another major route to serve Hemel is the 500 from Aylesbury to Watford, broadly following the line of the old A41 before the various by-passes. It would benefit from a revamp as it was largely in the hands of ex Arriva London castoffs converted from dual to single door like 6049 (LJ04LGX), former DW79, seen approaching the Marlowes bus stands in October 2017.

Seen earlier that day was sister vehicle 6044 (LJ04LGW), ex DW78, another Wright Pulsar Gemini bodied VDL DB250.

Deployed on town service 3 in October 2017, usually the province of the Mercedes Sprinters, was VDL 6043 (LJ04LGY), former DW80.

Now withdrawn, but still plying the 500 at over sixteen years of age - and after a long stint in London - is former DLA305 (Y526UGC), an Alexander ALX400 bodied DAF DB250 numbered 6305 by Arriva the Shires and retaining the number for its brief career with Kent Thameside.
