On the same day 3958 (KX12GZV) was operating the trunk Busway route to Dunstable from Luton Airport, where it was seen in the company of National Express and Easybus airport buses. At the time Arriva's Green Line service from Victoria had been banned from the airport and the Victoria coaches terminated at Luton Station and airport passengers had a free transfer to the airport on route A. Not ideal as they had to tranship their luggage btween vehicles at the station. Appeals to the competition authorities later allowed the Green Line coaches back into the airport. |
By September the following year the Busway Volvos had been given a distinctive livery promoting their connection to the London Green Line service. This is 3953 (KX12GZP) in Dunstable. Picture ref A5107 |
Confusingly the old Winston Churchill bus stop in Dunstable is used by A Busway services heading for Luton and Houghton Regis as the route loops around the town. One wonders how many unwary passengers get carted off in the wrong direction. Information at the stop was not helpful and assumed you would know that. Here 3954 (KX12GZR) loads for the Airport.
