The long standing Reading - Heathrow Railair service was started by Thames Valley with a fleet of Duple (Northern) Viceroy bodied Bedford VAMs C417-420 (LJB417-420E). The coaches were unusual in the then Thames Valley fleet as they sported South Midland livery but bore Thames Valley fleetnames. C418 is seen near Langley on the M4 heading for Reading.

 Bedford C418 is seen again inside Thorn Street depot alongside two newly delivered Bristol VRs, 502 and 504 (UBL243/5G). Masking tape can be seen on the blind box of 504. |
 By the time the picture above was taken, the fleet of VAMs was in reserve for Heathrow duties, distinctive Duple Commander bodied Bristol RELHs had taken their place. Bristol C424 (RJB424F) is seen at Heathrow with old fashioned BEA Routemasters in attendance. |
This donated picture of C424 is thought to be in the Reading yard at Cemetery Junction.
