New in 1973, LS4 (TGY104M), was one of the first six Leyland Nationals or London Transport. They were trialled alongside a similar number of Metro-Scania singledeckers in rote S2 out of Dalston depot. Trials completed, the Nationals moved to Hounslow in 1981 for the 81 service to Slough. The bus is seen passing Haynes Close in Langley back in 1976. Withdrawn in 1985 it was bought by British Airtours at Gatwick Airport with fleet numberr BU6008 passing to Equipment Supplies and Services in Northern Ireland in 1991. In 2006 it was acquired by Kells Transport Museum in Cork.

In 1976 the first of a large fleet of Leyland Nationals commenced delivery. Here is LS14 (KJD514P) on driver familiarisation duties when new in the bland all over red livery adopted. LS4 above not only sported a white roof but a grey heating pod. The new delivery had the shorter taller heating pods. LS14 was joined the first six Nationals at Hounslow, ending its LT days as a driver trainer at Catford. It was sold to Robinsons of Stewkley in Bucks in 1986 then sold for scrap in 1989.

On to LS34 (KJD534P) on the 81 just leaving the Montagu Arms in Langley as it heads for Slough. The bus was one of the Nationals painted into Harrow Buses livery in 1988 and was sold directly for scrap in 1991.
