The MCW Metrorider was popular as a minibus in London. MCW's design was taken over and re-engineered by Optare, though not many Optare models entered London service, though the model continued to sell well elsewhere.

MRL222 (K422HWY) of MTL London is seen, looking rather drab, on the W5 - it is one of the later Optare built models. It passed into Metroline ownership with the rest of the fleet and later saw service with Pride of the Dales, Threshfield and less glamorously Banga of Wolverhampton.

Presenting an altogether different image, this former MTL MetroRider on the W5 has been repainted in the attractive Metroline colours and is followed by one of the then latest Dennis Trident/Plaxton Presidents on the 43.

MRL78 was new to the London Buses Stanwell Buses unit, Westlink. Westlink was privatised in 1994 and the new company fitted the bus out for wheelchair access and renumbered it MRW2 bearing a cherished registration, A2LBR. The MCW MetroRider is seen on the H20 in Hounslow. The bus ended its days moving to Naas in Eire in 2000.

Similar vehicle, MRL86 (F190YDA), was sold to Red Rose of Aylesbury. Because of the similarity in livery, there was no rush to repaint it. It is seen in the company's Aylesbury yard and was scrapped by them in 2000.
