An unexpected entry, making its SHOWBUS debut, was A3 (A103SUU) the rear door experimental Ailsa that languished for many years with Black Prince after an accident. The bus was one of the experimental fleet of three Ailsas - it was the only rear platform version - in comparative trials with Olympians, Mark II Metrobuses and Dennis Dominators back in the eighties. Perhaps TfL should look at it for the "new" Routemaster project?

Arriving at SHOWBUS is the ex Hants & Dorset preserved Leyland National of Norfolk operator Konectbus. Whilst the Konectbus fleet was established with ex NBC Nationals and VRs, the bus behind represents its modern face with a fleet of Optare vehicles.

Looking like new in the SHOWBUS sunshine is former Eastern National 1516 (FWC439H), a Bristol RELL6G with the third style of ECW body fitted to the chassis, with a deep flat windscreen. Sister vehicle, 1510, is about to be released in NBC livery as model 25004 by EFE.

A near matching pair of VRs representing the NBC era, side by side at SHOWBUS are former Trent 837 (BRC837T) in red and Eastern National 3107 (UAR597W) in green.

Another contrasting pair, this time from the Tilling era with Crosville MW coaches CMG434 (815XFM) from 1962 and CMG561 (HFM561D) from '66.
