The occasion of the Queen's Silver Jubillee in 1977 was a special year, and the National Showbus Jubillee Rally celebrated it in style with a road run from Royal Windsor to Hillingdon. Many vehicles were decorated specially for the occasion and Maidstone & District dusted down 'The Diddler', a trolleybus acquired with the Hastings & District undertaking and converted to motor power. It had been decorated before - with electric lights - on the occasion of the Coronation. It is seen climbing Windsor Castle Hill - no mean feat - followed by a former Hull Weymann bodied AEC Regent III adorned with Union Jacks, 337 (OKH337). |
