It would be unfare to say that Southern Vectis found some old NBC poppy red paint to inspire them with the base livery for the Route Rouge concept! Certainly the route branding is far more imaginative than anything NBC would ever have dreamt up. Together with the Island Explorer route, these two easily understood brands present the holiday makers who visit the island with an easy concept for travel. The ECW Olympians used on Route Rouge have been refurbished and given cherished registrations in favour of their Isle of Wight 'DL' marks. All Leyland Olympian 719 (TIL6719), originally registered G719WDL, accompanied Island Explorer 744 to SHOWBUS international 2001. |
Earlier in the year 727 (TIL6727), formerly G727XDL, visited the Cobham Bus Rally. Both buses later ended their Go-Ahead days with Damory Coaches.

Olympian 723 (TIL6723), originally G723XDL, arrives at Duxford for SHOWBUS international 2003. The bus was substituted for a new Volvo B7TL/President to support the new EFE casting of an Olympian in SVOC colours debuting at SHOWBUS. The model bus, however, is not in the Route Rouge colours, but fleet livery.

Leaving SHOWBUS international 2004 is Route Rouge Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympian 751 (M751HDL) in company with a former PMT Ford Transit 161 (C161VRE). |
No where near the Isle of Wight - or a bus rally - is 748 (M748HDL) another Route Rouge Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympian. The bus is on Underground Rail Replacement work in London in Spring 2004.
