An unusual secondhand purchase for Thames Valley was a pair of Bristol KSW buses from United Welsh. These arrived at the same time as several United Welsh Lodekkas. This bus was quickly put into service and is seen at Newbury. Helping it to stand out from the crowds is the cream band below the upper deck windows. Buses painted at Newbury retained this feature. The two KSW6Gs transferred were 1242 and 1243 (JCY989/90) dating from 1953, 1242 is pictured at Newbury Wharf.

Former United Welsh Lodekka 1253 (LWN48) was one of the Lodekkas acquired by Thames Valley to ease vehicle shortages. The bus as Thames Valley 772, is seen on the Windsor - Reading via Bracknell service at Windsor & Eton Station.

Another United Welsh Lodekka lined up with other Bristols in High Wycombe's Frogmoor Bus Station. |

An interesting collection of vehicles at Alder Valley's Thorn Walk depot in Reading. On the left is former United Welsh LD6G 308 (OCY955) still in Thames Valley Tilling Red. In the middle is Plaxton Elite bodied Bristol RELH BJB883J in Thames Valley's South Midland coaching livery and on the end is that odd creature, an ECW bodied Ford R1014 in NBC livery, Alder Valley 706 (NRD706M). |

Bristol LD6G 301 (NCY634) of 1956 passed to Thames Valley in 1968 as their 519. It is seen from the window of a Bristol Greyhound ECW bodied RELH on the A4 between Newbury and Reading in 1969. The bus was absorbed into the Alder Valley fleet in 1972, retaining fleet number 519. It passed to the Paul Sykes Organisation in Barnsley for scrap in 1975. |
