The Birmingham Coach Company rebranded its bus operation in the city as Diamond Bus. The elderly fleet of Leyland Nationals succumbed to newer vehicles with secondhand and new purchases. New in 2001 was this DAF SB120 with Wright bus bodywork, YJ51EKC. |

Partner vehicle YJ51EKA is seen in the city centre. Both buses sport the new crisper black, white and red livery and Diamond Bus branding.

Several Optare Excels were acquired by Diamond Bus including 109 (P509OUG) which was new to Metrobus as 509 and disposed of by them before both companies were briefly in common ownership under Go-Ahead. |
