Metrobus has its routes in the tiny Orpington & District bus company taken over by Surrey based Tillingbourne and renamed Metrobus. As the company expanded its bus operations both commercially and via TfL contracts, two coach operators, Southland Travel and RB Coaches, were also taken over. Southlands was subsequently purchased by Sullivan Buses and later resold to the local management. In 1999, the Metrobus operation was acquired by Go-Ahead, but its operations were not integrated with the the Go-Ahead branded services in the city until 2015. Under Go-Ahead it has taken over First Centrewest's isolated Orpington network and has acquired operations in the former London Country area around Gatwick and Crawley either relinquished or bought from Arriva.
