Nottingham's free city centre service was part of their plan to reduce congestion in the city and was funded through a levy on business car parks in the city. The intiative included the Park & Ride Lilac Leopards. As striking were some of the first Leyland Nationals circulating on two city loops, the different routes denoted by the orange branding on 723 (FAU723L) and yellow on the bus behind.

Leyland Lynx 740 (F740HRC) was sharing the 77 route with the Alexander Strider bodied Volvo B10B on the previous page. The 77 route being the original yellow branded Central Area Service.
