Nottingham embraced green technology with the start of a sizeable fleet of CNG powered gas buses. The Scania N280UD designed to run on compressed natural gas and in collaboration with Alexander Dennis bodywork was an adapted version of their Enviro400CITY tagged the CNGCITY. First buses were for the Green Line routes. Seen in the city centre in July 2017 on route 1 is 405 (YP17UFE).

Gas powered 409 (YP17UFN) was seen on route 1 the same day followed by 403 (YP17UFC) on route 6.

A closer look at 403 serving West Bridgford on route 6 with a clever BRIDGEford Bus display. Whilst 405 and 409 are Green Line branded, 403 is branded as the "Bridgford Bus". Passing by is Nottingham Community Transport all electric BYD K9UR, 980 (LJ16NMU) on the Park & Ride "link" service.

In September 403 was one of a pair of Green Enviro400CNGCITY joining an impressive Nottingham City Transport display at SHOWBUS international 2017 at Donington Park to show off the new environmentally friendly technology.
