Oxford airline Volvo B12B Plaxton Panther 89
There was a bit of a hiccup with the DVLA when the 2007 batch of airline coaches was registered. It looks like the special OXF registrations were arranged over the phone or someone at the DVLA was misheard by a co-worker. The often misheard letters S and F got confused and the batch had to be registered initially with the erroneous OXS series plates as seen here on 89 (JB07OXS) at Heathrow in May that year. Quite why anyone at the DVLA thought the Oxford Bus Company wanted a batch of OXS registered buses beggars belief. The error was corrected and a number of unwanted registration plates eventually disposed of in the skip!

Oxford airline coach rears
Witty adverts to tempt passengers adorn the rear of the Plaxton fleet, doubtless trying to tempt the following motorists on the motorways the next time they are planning to fly. On 94 (DB07OXF) the minarets of Istanbul's skyline are captioned "Turkish Delight", whilst on 96 (FF08OXF) Ayers Rock and the kangaroo road sign have the appropriate caption "long haul - short hop". For many the journey will begin with Oxford's airline service. Joining 94 and 96 on layover in Gloucester Green in May 2008 is Espress Jonckheere bodied Volvo B12B 31 (OC02OXF), flaunting its WiFi credentials.
