The Plaxton Premier Interurban body was developed from the standard product for Satecoach. Volvo 162 (L162JNH) has dual purpose seating and is mounted on a Volvo B10M chassis. It is seen at SHOWBUS international 2001, freshly painted, but bereft of fleetnames. |
With full coach seating is later Volvo 179 (R179ONH) seen in April 2002 at Marylebone. The vehicle has a small front fleetname but lacks the impact of branding like Stagecoach Express or Coachlinks. It is seen having arrived on one of the commuter routes from Bedfordshire and Northants at the London terminus. The routes were originally operated by independent Birch Brothers, famous for doubledeck coaches based on Leyland Titan PD chassis and other interesting heavyweight stock used on these routes. The company was taken over by United Counties, some of their non standard vehicles gaining green livery for a while. Birch colours had been cream with bright red relief. |
