National Express took over what had become the London United Airbus operation between central London and Heathrow Airport. With the advent of the Heathrow Express train service the doubledeck bus operation became underused and was abandoned. Some of the Alexander Royale air conditioned doubledeckers had been repainted in National Express livery and some surplus vehicles went to TWM for private hire as with TWM 3128 (N128YRW). Two of the batch are reunited in their new identities at SHOWBUS international 2003.

A large batch of Scania N113DRB doubledeckers with Alexander bodies entered service at the beginning of the nineties, but they were the last deckers until the Spectras arrived, nearly ten years later. This is 3235 (H235LOM).

Sister vehicle 3239 (H239LOM) was seen many years later in April 2011 parked up at Dunsfold Park in Surrey. It is alongside an identical combination new as Newport Transport 46 (F46YHB). TWM's was still bearing Northern Blue livery and fleet number, 139, where it and several others of the batch had spent some time. Newport's too had been with Northern Blue as 146 and later 156 with Transdev Burnley & Pendle.

Some more Scania deckers joined the fleet in 2008 like this all Scania Omnidekka, 4779 (BV57XLA), seen in Sutton Coldfield in December 2010.
