Established in 1924 York Brothers of Cogenhoe, near Northampton, was a typical local operator with a big tours business, school contracts, private hire and local bus services. In its later years it concentrated on coach work and was an early operator of the German Kassbohrer Setra models, like this S215HR model, 85 (XMO856), seen at Heathrow Airport in July 2003. |

Setra 96 (KPR698) is seen with coaches from Motts Travel, Three Star of Luton and On A Mission of Milton Keynes on a major rail replacement operation in Hertfordhire in December 2002. The coach is in the Bowen Travel Group colours, the group having acquired York Bros in 1998. |
Another Yorks coach on the same rail operation was Bova Futura 696. |
By July 2012 when this Marcopolo bodied Dennis Javelin was photographed in Park Lane, the York fleet was completely subsumed in the Bowen Group identity, its vehicle purchases influenced through the parent Moseley group coach dealer. A new silver and blue group identity had just been established however, but 57 (ESK896) was destined never to see this, as this was the summer before the whole Moseley-Bowen group collapsed and placed in administration. |
