Beyond the United Counties and Brighton, Hove & District duo was an impressive line up of Bristol deckers starting with a pair of Tilling Green lowbridge Ks. Nearer is rare KS, United Counties 692 (FRP692) followed by wider KSW, Eastern National 1407 (VNO859). |
Sandwiched between two highbridge Ks (Eastern Counties 133 & Lincolnshire 2115) was the oldest Bristol at SHOWBUS. Former Westcliff-on-Sea K 825 (AJN825) now in the care of the 825 Preservation Group having been looked after by First Eastern National for a while, during which time it suffered severe accidental fire damage. Prior to that "AJN" was a frequent Showbus Duxford visitor. Fittingly, "AJN" lead the parade from Trumpington. |
In this final view, we get to see the open top KSW, former Eastern National 2381 (WNO482). Originally fully enclosed, it lasted much longer in seasonal use at Essex seaside resorts as an open topper. |
Only six Bristol LDLs were built, thirty foot long versions of the shorter Bristol LD. But this is a later LDLX, Eastern National's 2510 (236LNO), prototype for the flat floor Lodekka F-series. Thirty foot Lodekkas did become more numerous in the F-series as the FL and the ubiquitous FLF. |
Two celebrated FLF Lodekka survivors are Stagecoach East 19952/3 (JAH552/3D). Whilst they have visited Showbus many times, the last time they were seen at Duxford together was in 2002 when both were in a special Golden Jubilee version of Stagecoach livery. 19952 is the opentopper. |
