The Ballarat Tramway Company's first tramcar was powered by horses. It was built in 1887 by Duncan and Fraser. After the line was taken over by the Electric Supply Company of Victoria it was one of eight cars which ran as trailers behind electric trams at busy times. Finally withdrawn in the late twenties when the bodyshell became a residential outbuilding, until saved for preservation in 1985. The body has been fully reconstructed to its original condition and a modified Melbourne cable car truck forms the undercarriage. The car was seen in the museum depot in October 2012. |
