When Transdev took over operations in central Melbourne it caused a stir by ordering Malaysain built Gemilage bodied Scanias. Scanias were no stranger to the constituent National Bus and more so the Melbourne Bus Link fleet, but Gemilang was an unusal choice, especially as the Sydney Transdev operation did not favour them. Seen in November 2016 is Scania K280UB 110 (BS01GO) heading down Hoddle Street towards the city.

Just under two years earlier in December 105 (BS00TW) is seen in the city on SmartBus route 905. This was to become a feature of Transdev operations with new buses in standard PTV livery appearing on SmartBus routes and the SmartBus branded buses popping up on routes across the network.

A pair of articulated Scania K360UA buses was acquired in 2017 and 118 (BS00TB) is seen in March running light on Hoddle Street from the city. Again both artics were purchased primarily for use on SmartBus work, but did not receive the appropriate livery.
