Early in January 2012, A1 car 235 is seen leaving Docklands in the latest livery, which all of the A and B class trams had seemingly acquired by then.

There is always something happening in Melbourne and tram routes are frequently diverted, truncated and augmented. New Year's Eve is an annual major operation and A1 243 is seen diverted from its Elizabeth Street terminus to Docklands, where it has deposited passengers for the early evening firework display at 2130 on December 31st 2011.

Another earlier major event was the visit of Her Majesty the Queen to melbourne on October 26th 2011. Crowds thronged the area around Federation Square, at one stage blocking Flinders Street, before it was formally closed just before Her Majesty boarded the Royal Tram (Z class 158) which was waiting off on the left.

The last of the A1 class, 258, bursts through the crowds before the road is finally sealed to traffic for Her Majesty's tram ride.

An unusual site in early Autumn 2012, two A class trams on the reserved track from Southbank to Port Melbourne. On the left and heading away from us is A1 237 "Out of service", but the tram approaching us, car 269, is on the 109 heading for Box Hill on the route normally the preserve of the first Citadis trams.
