It is not always plain sailing on Chapel Street. One Friday evening in February 2014 the driver of the BMW stopped as he felt his new car moving sideways and refused to continue until the dealer responded to his pleas for assistance. Trams have some advantages over a bus, but getting around obstacles is not one of them and three trams were held up bu the idiot driving the BMW. He obviously experienced the slippery feeling that one sometimes gets driving oon tram tracks. Despite his wheels facing forward he expected his car to go sidewasy if pushed out of the way. As a parked Lamborghini would have been the victim of this impossible outcome the BMW stayed put.

Christmas 2012 saw Melbourne Town Hall as the focus for animated Christmas light projection for the first time. Crowds gather opposite the Hall on the Swanston Street pavement. In 2017 this venue was deemed unsafe and the Library is the new light projection veue. Crowds did get mildly annoyed when passing tramd, like A1 257 partially obscured the view.

A second view with 257 out of the way.

A2 tram 255 passes the Town Hall the following December but in brilliant sunshine. Celebrating Christmas in summer does mean that Christmas lights have little impact until the sun sets late in the day,

The first minutes of 2013 and fireworks are launching from the top of Melbourne's high rises as A2 264 prepares to take the city revellers home.
