In 1986 Birkenhead Transport had a brief flirtation with the Volvo B6FA chassis, taking delivery of six. This was the last, 36 (NF4041), delivered in February 1997 and like the others it has CWI Hunter body. The other five had 51 seat bus bodies, but 36 has dual purpose seating for 47 and has single door configurtion. It is seen approaching the city, probably on charter, in April 2008.

This is another CWI Ranger 2 bodied LT1-11P, 1 (NZ6843) new in 1989, also seen in 2000. The different style is due to the fact that the vehicle has dual purpose styling for private hire work.

Forward to November 2017 and Designline Enviroline bodied MAN 16.250 28 (GDP213) of 2012 is alongside one of only three Isuzus then left in the fleet. The other two were LT1-11P models, but 74 (HWN874) is an FTR750 with Designline bus body delivered in 2015. The buses are seen in the Birkenhead depot yard.
