Martyn Pearce ran Abbey Coaches, a diverse fleet in the High Wycombe area engaged on school contracts, occasional private hire and free buses for local supermarkets. The company took on some of the operations and vehicles of Beckwith Coaches when that company collapsed and expanded further by taking over Prestwood Travel in 2004, only itself to fold the following year. Martyn moved on and in 2017 was operating as Blackpool Coach Hire running, amongst other things, and ex Motts Alexander (Belfast) bodied Leyland Tiger 70 seater, E30UNE, new to Shearings bus division.

This Leyland National Greenway, LFR638W, is believed to have been based on Crosville Wales dual door Leyland National 2 SNL5 (AFM5W). In its new guise, and keeping the AFM5W registration it moved to Blackburn Transport as their 424, the number and livery it retained for a while with Abbey until refreshed in this white and green. It is seen on an ASDA contract in May 2003 at the Wycombe Six cinema complex. |

Former Alder Valley Leyland National 221 (KPA372P) is seen with with TWM Volvo B10B Wright 1363 (N363WOH) at Cobham in April 2003. Its last owner had been the closed Classic Bus operation of High Wycombe who had used the very well presented bus on school work in full A&D livery. It passed on to Abbey Coaches, who had probably entered it at Cobham. Together with a Bristol VR it was painted in the original Aldershot & District colours to mark the 75th anniversary of the then defunct undertaking. |
