An unusual recent event was the transfer of route 85 and its fleet of DAF/Northern Counties deckers from London United to Arriva Southern Counties. This one, now 6211 (R211CKO) in Kingston, was new to London & Country as DFD011 in Arriva livery for the 85 and then loaned to London United as DN11 has now regained Arriva colours from the London red.

Large numbers of modern vehicles have left the former London & Country fleet since Arriva ownership. They have been deployed elsewhere in the Arriva empire. To replace them, former Arriva London Metrobuses have been refurbished and converted to singledoor, like M378 (GYE378W) seen here in Epsom. Unfortunately the refurbishment does not seem to have extended to the destination blind!

From the Guildford & West Surrey division is lowheight Alexander bodied Olympian 3701, seen at Millennium Showbus and wearing its third livery. It was delivered new to Alder Valley as 907 (F577SMG), part of a sizeable batch for the Guildford-Winchester trunk route in Alder Valley's Aldershot & District inspired livery. Subtle changes brought it into London & Country's Guildford & West Surrey colours - and now Arriva.

 On display at the Maidstone & District Centenary rally in April 2011 was another of the batch, former Alder Valley 909 (F579SMG). Urban Blue has acquired the bus as a promotional vehcile for a number of local community causes. |
