After the four prototype RMs, RM8 appeared next in 1958 followed in 1959 by RM5 (VLT5) and many more. RM5 is seen here in service in 2000, all of 41 years old. The bus is kept by Arriva in near original condition. It is seen on the 38 at Piccadilly Circus.

In 2009 Arriva treated RM5 to a thorough overhaul and authentic restoration. The project was accompanied by the release of a special EFE model and a video of the work done. RM5 was thus displayed next to the EFE marquee at SHOWBUS in the September where it is seen in readiness in late afternoon sun on the Saturday.

RM8 is privately preserved and joined the main Routemaster display, whereas RM5 had its appointment at the marquis and RM9 below joined the Go-Ahead display.

Here Arriva's RM5 is seen arriving at SHOWBUS the following year.

Also arriving in 2010 was London General's RM9, making the journey worthwhile as an official excursion to SHOWBUS on route 36X.
