These oddball machines were transferred from Maidstone & District to Wilts & Dorset at an early stage in the life of the National Bus Comany. The Willowbrook bodied Leyland Panthers were never a popular bus and M&D was probably glad to see the back of them. On a school special is 685 (JKK196E), former Maidstone & District S96 and still in its original livery. |

This Panther made it into Wilts & Dorset Tilling Red and cream before Wilts & Dorset was merged into Hants & Dorset. Seen at Newbury Wharf on the 122 to Basingstoke is Willowbrook bodied Panther 692 (JKK203E), former M&D S103. |

A strange scene outside the Montagu Arms on the London Road, westbound in Langley, near Slough. It appears as though the ex Maidstone & District Leyland Panther had broken down and the ECW bodied MW6G coach, 903 (FEL750D), had been sent to collect the passengers. In attendance is a London Country RF relegated to a recovery vehicle and presumably summoned from the nearby Windsor depot. The Panther is in Tilling red and cream, clearly sent to Wilts & Dorset before the merger. |
