In 1979 Derby took the opportunity to reduce its average fleet age on the cheap with three ex London DMS 253-255 (MLK440-442L) followed by 250 (JGU283K) and 256-259 (MLK463/465-467L) the following year. Five of the eight are lined up here in the depot, not long after acquisition with 253, DMS440, first in line. All are Park Royal bodied Daimler Fleetlines. Three more R-registered DMS followed in 1986.

At the since replaced Derby Bus Station Weymann lowbridge Leyland Atlantean 62 (WTH113) is loading on route 45, though the driver has yet to change the blind. The bus was new to James of Ammanford in 1960 as their 237, passing to South Wales the following year, when they acquired James, as their 1237 later joining City of Oxford as 206 before finally making it to Derby.

Recently in service in the city was this Northern Counties bodied Leyland Fleetline, 299 (GTO299V), one of eighteen delivered in 1980 of which five, 45-49 (GTO45-49V) were lowheight.

This Derby Transport Marshall bodyed Volvo was spotted on a private hire away in London, hence the hurried shot back in 2004. It is thought to be Citybus 126 (YAU126Y), one of a trio delivered in 1983.
