Routemasters have always been something of a favourite with Stagecoach Chairman, Brian Souter, so it came as no real surprise when early Stagecoach acquisition, United Counties, acquired a fleet to run in Bedford and Corby. They were first seen in the post deregulation green, with orange relief, but by the time Stagecoach stripes were more universally in use, the Routemaster fleet faded away. United Counties 703 (HVS937), former RM682 (WLT682), was in splendid condition at Showbus 97 and still saw occasional use.
