Two Alexander bodied Volvos in Northampton Bus Station in Autumn 2003. On the left in "Barbie 2" livery is First Northampton Citybus 286 (F86DVV) and leaving on the right is Olympian 16222 (R702DNH). |
Also leaving Northampton Bus Station on the same day was Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympian 16436 carrying the registration of London Routemaster RM1647, 647DYE. The bus had recently arrived from Selkent where it was new as 336 (N336HGK). Unlike other London deliveries these early Olympians had relatively high bodies, which meant they were relatively safe in Northampton. Notwithstanding a year later in June 2004 the batch of seven such buses were shipped off to Stagecoach North-East, complete with their Routemaster registrations.

Sister vehivle, Volvo 16433 with RM528's registration, WLT528, is also seen in Northampton Bus Station in Autumn 2003: originally Selkent 333 (N333HGK). |
Recently arrived from London, Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympian 16431 (VLT255) had yet to gain full livery. The bus was Selkent 331 (N331HGK) and it went with the others to Newcastle in full livery in 2004. |
Two slightly different frontal treatments on this pair of Northern Counties bodied Volvo Olympians at SHOWBUS in 2002. The bus on the left is former Selkent 349 (N349HGK) with Stagecoach in Swindon and on the left an unidentified Stagecoach United Counties bus. |
